In the past years, the severe lack of representation of a number of different groups as well as an issue in how these groups are being portrayed, has been brought to light. There are movements such as #OscarsSoWhite and #TimesUp that talk about these troubles that individuals from different groups face within Hollywood. Two groups that are often being harmed by their lack of representation, treatment, and portrayal, are people of color and women. These two groups are often left out of films and television shows whether that be on the screen or off it. The majority of producers and filmmakers are white males, not allowing for these other groups to have the same opportunities. Also, when portrayed, these two groups often adhere to racist and sexist generalizations and stereotypes. Finally, the treatment of these two groups of people within the entertainment business if often poor leaving them to feel demoralized and not as worthy as other individuals within the business.
